These should be conducted periodically to maintain and improve the security within your organization.<\/p>\n<p>Supervisors or external certified safety professional should regularly inspect the workplace and observe the work of the employees, contractors and subcontractors. They should also evaluate the results with the relevant employee(s).<\/p>\n<p>HSE stands for <strong>H<\/strong>ealth, <strong>S<\/strong>afety and <strong>E<\/strong>nvironment and those are precisely the points that should be taken serious during the HSE observation and workplace inspection.<\/p>\n<h2>HSE observation<\/h2>\n<p>HSE observations are intended to determine whether the performance of operations are in accordance with the procedures which are arranged to perform the work safely and well.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/hse-observation-and-workplace-inspection-safety-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"HSE observations and workplace inspections safety\" class=\"alignright\"\/>During HSE observations, which should be done by two people, a job\/work activities will be observed for some time. It is recommended to inform those who be observed of your activities so they do not get the idea to be &#8220;spied&#8221;. Afterwards you can discuss the results and stores them on a specially designed form in order to monitor the results.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of HSE observations is to make people aware of their behavior by entering into conversation with them. It should be a dialogue, not a monologue, otherwise people feel patronized or the opposite will be reached. It is also important to discuss not only the bad or unsafe situations, but also to discuss the positives. Discussing the pros encourages the employee to work even safer.<\/p>\n<p>For HSE observations you can make a &#8220;checklist HSE observations&#8221; to ensure that they observe all the important points. If during the observation new situations or concerns come forward then you can add it to this &#8220;checklist HSE observations&#8221;. This checklist is designed to provide support for the manager and not as a guideline because they always have to look beyond the checklist.<\/p>\n<p>During HSE observations someone observes for example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>compliance with safety rules and regulations<\/li>\n<li>(Right) use of PPE<\/li>\n<li>correct and safe use of tools\/machines<\/li>\n<li>handling of hazardous substances<\/li>\n<li>handling of environmentally harmful substances<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>HSE workplace inspections <\/h2>\n<p>HSE workplace inspection is different in nature from an observation. During the HSE workplace inspection the look at some predetermined items such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>housekeeping, order and cleanliness workplace,<\/li>\n<li>presence and use of PPE,<\/li>\n<li>check first aid kit,<\/li>\n<li>check grades and test fire plus devices,<\/li>\n<li>State of tools,<\/li>\n<li>state of machine(s),<\/li>\n<li>work permit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is recommended to create a standard checklist, checklist HSE workplace inspection in order to be looked at fixed points. You can see after some time, using trend analysis, what you are good at and where are possible points for improvement.<\/p>\n<h2>HSE observation and workplace inspection within your organization<\/h2>\n<p>As defined supervisors perform the HSE observation and workplace inspection, but it can also be useful if a higher safety expert performs the HSE observation and workplace inspection.
